DFW Airport Announces Annual All-American 4th Of July Bash

Airport Hits One Million Weekly Passengers For Second Week In A Row, Holiday Travel And Summer Bookings Look Strong

DFW INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, Texas (July 1, 2003) — DFW will roll out the red, white and blue hospitality during the busy Fourth of July holiday travel season, as travel at the world's third busiest airport continues to improve and summer bookings continue to build.

A variety of local bands and performers will entertain passengers on Thursday, July 3, in the heat of a strong Fourth of July travel season. Airport Ambassadors will also be distributing All-American toys and treats while "Uncle Sam on stilts" strolls through all four terminals spreading patriotic cheer.

The Airport recorded an estimated 1.125 million passengers during the period June 23 to 29, making this the second week in a row for a millionplus travelers through DFW. And the Airport forecasts 1.79 million holiday passengers will travel through DFW June 27 - July 7, a 2.3 percent increase over the same period last year.

"All of the travel numbers are giving us positive indicators for a strong summer travel season," says Joe Lopano, executive vice president of marketing and revenue management at DFW. "The Iraq war and SARS scare are gone, and there's pent-up demand for business and leisure travel. Our major carriers also are seeing fuller planes and that's a good sign for DFW."

In addition, travelers to DFW will also experience some of the fastest security lines in the country and rapid access to the Airport's 30,000 parking spaces. Guests are urged to check out www.dfwairport.com to get the latest information on parking availability and security updates before heading to the Airport.

"We're ready to help, we're accessible, we're easy to navigate," says Lopano. "Our priority of keeping security high and travel hassles low is in effect every day at DFW and will be even more apparent during the holiday season."

THE HOLIDAY TURNS ALL-AMERICAN ON JULY 3RD.

Airport Ambassadors will be providing traveling families Airport-wide with fun surprises such as patriotic gliders, pinwheel headboppers, USA flagwrapped buttermints and red, white and blue twinkle gumballs.
