DFW Airport Holiday Parking And Travel
DFW INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, Texas (May 23, 2003) – DFW International Airport parking attendants handed out 5,000 American flags to motorists headed in to DFW this morning, as the busy Memorial Day travel weekend continues with no delays on the ground or in the air.
Active U.S. military personnel and reserves are also enjoying complimentary parking in DFW's Express South lot through Tuesday.
A valid military ID is all that is needed when pulling up to the Express South welcome booth. A coupon will be issued for the free parking offer.
"We think today's AP poll showing four out five Americans will continue with their vacations plan is valid. We are seeing the results in our terminals," says Ken Capps, vice president, public affairs at DFW. "The lines are quick and we are continuing our commitment to our passengers to keep security high and travel hassles low."
Level Orange security measures require visual inspections and random searches of cars at toll plazas. Those procedures are taking 30 seconds to two minutes.
Terminal garage parking at all four terminals remains open and available, despite the closing of 1,200 one-hour spaces for heightened security.
The Airport's remote lots were at 96% capacity this morning, so passengers are encouraged to check out Express Parking, which includes trunk-to-terminal service, complimentary water and newspapers and daily price of $9 per day.
More than 20,000 parking spaces remain available in all parking areas at DFW.
Passenger lines through the screening checkpoints ranged from zero - three minutes.
The Airport will continue to monitor its parking lot capacity and airport entry times. DFW continues to suggest passengers check www.dfwairport.com for the latest in travel and security update.
Located halfway between the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas, DFW International Airport is the world's third busiest, offering nearly 2,000 flights per day and serving 54 million passengers a year.
