DFW Airport Media Statement – Incident at gas station at south end of airport June 9, 2016; 9:30pm update

DFW Airport Department of Public Safety police continuing their investigation of an apparent kidnapping incident at a gas station on the south end of the Airport that led to the death of a 42-year old male.

Investigators now believe the incident was not a random act, and that the victim was likely followed to the gas station from a location off the airport.

The incident began about 2:00 PM Thursday when the victim saw several suspects breaking into his rented car while he was inside the Shell gas station convenience store at Rental Car Drive and International Parkway.

The man confronted the suspects, who forced him into another car and drove away. The victim was later found unconscious in the 4300 block of West Northgate Drive in Irving, about 2 miles from the gas station.

An Irving EMS ambulance crew transported the victim to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators are continuing to withhold the identification of the victim pending notification of the family.

So far, police have made no arrests, but the investigation is ongoing.

DFW Airport Department of Public Safety detectives are leading the investigation with assistance from the FBI, along with Dallas, Irving and Grapevine police.

DFW Airport DPS Police are requesting that anyone with information about the incident to please call the Department at 972-973-3210.
