DFW Airport Media Statement: Winter Storm Response
Tuesday, February 24, 2015, 11:30 PM CST
Airlines at DFW Airport were operating normally this evening following the winter storm system that brought freezing rain, ice and sleet to the Dallas/Fort Worth area on Monday. DFW Airport runways and taxiways are open, and roads throughout the Airport are in good condition for travelers. The Dart Orange Line resumed normal operations at DFW. Currently, area roadway surfaces and heavily traveled roads are clear and dry.
For Wednesday, a mixture of snow and rain is expected to start between 2 AM and 3 AM with possible accumulation of 2-4 inches between 5 and 10 AM. Airport crews will be in place through the night to treat all roadways, runways, taxiways, sidewalks and crosswalks in preparation for early morning flights and travelers. Airport crews will continue to closely monitor all pavements for any accumulation and will re-treat as needed through the day tomorrow.
DFW Airport Concessions plan to be in full operation by 5 AM for customers departing on early morning flights.
The airlines serving DFW will continue utilizing the Airport’s de-icing facilities for departing flights as needed. As of 10 PM tonight airlines had cancelled 91 departures on Wednesday from DFW Airport, but plan to increase the number of departures per hour as the day progresses.
DFW advises motorists making their way to the Airport to give themselves plenty of extra time to meet their flights, to exercise caution given the possibility of slick spots and to watch for traffic control officers and possible detours within the Airport.
DFW Airport is advising all customers to stay updated on the latest flight information through their airlines or through DFW. Customers can check the Flight Information page atwww.dfwairport.com/flights or download the Official DFW Airport Mobile App for information about flights scheduled within the next 8 hours. The DFW mobile app offers live real-time updates to track late changes to flight status or gate information.
DFW Public Affairs will provide a further update at 5 AM Wednesday.
