DFW Airport Media Statement: Winter Weather Response
Saturday, February 28, 2015, 9:30 AM CST
Runways at DFW Airport remain operational today despite over two inches of snow and an icy glaze that have fallen at the Airport since Friday. However, the wintry mix of precipitation will have an impact on flight schedules today due to de-icing requirements for departures. The Airport remains under a Winter Weather Warning until 2:00 PM Saturday, when temperatures are expected to rise above freezing.
DFW Airport crews continue to treat runways and monitor the airfield for problem areas, and the Airport has deployed its fleet of pavement treatment trucks and snow plows to keep the airfield operational.
DFW Airport advises all customers with flights or anyone meeting flights to keep themselves updated with the latest flight information. As of 9:30 AM, airlines serving DFW had cancelled over 350 Saturday departures scheduled from DFW Airport, representing approximately 35% of the day’s full schedule of flights.
Customers can check the DFW Flight Information page at www.dfwairport.com/flights or download the Official DFW Airport Mobile App (www.dfwairport.com/mobileapp) for information about flights scheduled within the next 8 hours. The DFW mobile app offers live real-time updates to track late changes to flight status or gate information, as well as real-time parking availability information.
Inside the Airport terminals, DFW Customer Service teams are monitoring checkpoints and Customs as well as passenger activity, and will provide assistance as needed.
Airport crews continue treating roadways, overpasses and flyover bridges at DFW, and road conditions inside the Airport are improving. DFW Airport advises motorists to give themselves plenty of time to drive to the Airport, and to also watch for construction zones on DFW Airport grounds.
DFW Public Affairs will provide further updates as necessary.
