DFW International Airport Adds 40th International Destination, Tampico, Mexico

American Eagle adds to Airport’s growing and impressive international portfolio

(DFW INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT – Jan. 28, 2008) – DFW International Airport lands its record 40th international destination as American Eagle announced new daily service from DFW to Tampico, Mexico. With seven new international flights in the past twelve months, DFW’s “Year of the International Traveler,” the Airport has already set a spirited pace and continues to seek more expansion.

“Tampico brings DFW to the highest level of international destinations in the Airport’s history,” said Jeff Fegan, CEO of DFW. “American Eagle and American continue to be great partners in bringing international routes to North Texas. The past few months have really set a vigorous pace for 2008.”

DFW is one of the fastest growing international hubs in the world, offering originating passengers a choice of 175 destinations around the world and connecting passengers the most convenient, easy-to-use airport experience.

Over the past year DFW has announced new service to London’s Heathrow on both American Airlines and British Airways thanks to the United States and European Union Open Skies Agreement, new service to Amsterdam on KLM Royal Dutch Airlines as well as new American Airlines service to Providenciales, Turks & Caicos and Panama City, Panama. DFW has also announced added service to San Salvador, El Salvador on American Airlines and a new frequency to Seoul, South Korea on Korean Air.

“The new international flights at DFW just keep coming. This is the sixth this year,” said Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert. “American Eagle’s new service to Tampico offers travelers even more new opportunities to reach out and see the world.”

“Nothing opens the door to new economic opportunity quite like a new flight to a new destination,” said Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief. “We congratulate American Eagle for continuing to build their impressive hub operation at DFW, and for continuing to give North Texans the best opportunities to expand our local markets and spark tourism and trade.”

American Eagle’s service to Tampico, just 300 miles south of the Texas border, will begin on April 7 and join 15 other Mexican destinations served by DFW, while American Airlines’ additional service to San Salvador, El Salvador begins the same day. The new service lifts American and American Eagle to their 37th international destination and takes DFW to a total of 40 foreign cities across all carriers, an Airport record.

The new international service announcement comes just weeks after the launch of the Airport’s “Visit DFW” campaign in South America and Asia, in cooperation with the Convention and Visitors Bureaus of Dallas and Fort Worth. In addition, DFW executives and the Visit DFW team are headed for Mexico City today to reinforce the Visit DFW message with Mexican tourism officials.

The Tampico, Mexico flight will depart DFW daily on one of American Eagle’s Embraer 145s equipped with 44 seats. Passengers can begin booking service on the new flight beginning Monday, January 28, 2008.
