DFW International Airport Celebrates Customer Appreciation Week As Spring Break Begins

New healthy food options and parking discounts available for getaway week

DFW INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, Texas (March 17, 2009) – DFW International Airport is welcoming Spring Break by celebrating Customer Appreciation Week, thanking customers for flying DFW and offering parking deals and new amenities throughout the Airport’s five terminals. DFW employees will also be out in the concourses shaking hands and saying thanks to passengers as part of Customer Appreciation Week.

"Customer service is always at the forefront of our minds at DFW," said Joe Lopano, DFW's executive vice president of marketing and terminal management. "We take this week every year to make sure that our passengers hear directly how much we appreciate their business."

DFW will be offering discounted parking coupons at its Remote and Express lots, which are good for $10 per day parking at Terminal lots. In addition, customers entering the control plazas from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM this week can pick up a coupon good for $18 per day valet parking from the DFW Airport Valet. The valet parking coupon also offers food and retail discounts inside the terminals.

DFW also continues to innovate with its world-renowned concessions program, as the Airport opens four new restaurant concepts in time for Spring Break.

“As a frequent air traveler, I know how difficult it can be to eat healthy while traveling," said Gina Puente-Brancato, CEO/Co-owner of Puente-Brancato Enterprises, Inc. of Grapevine. "That's why I am so excited to provide these new healthier and fresh food options to our valued DFW Airport customers. The feedback we're getting is great."

The Airport recently debuted a new Cereality Cereal Bar and Café (Terminal C, Gate 6) featuring a multitude of cereals and a wide variety of healthy options for breakfast and for dining throughout the day.

Adjoining the Cereality location is a new Blimpie sandwich shop, offering the ultimate in wholesome submarine sandwiches.

Last week, DFW saw the arrival of a new Urban Taco restaurant, (Terminal C, Gate 22) a “Modern Mexican Taqueria” featuring updated and creative culinary treatments of Mexican food favorites.

And on Wednesday, the UFood Grill makes its debut at DFW (Terminal B, Gate 8) with a wide range of flavorful globally-influenced menu items that meet healthy guidelines. UFood Grill features a highly customizable set of offerings and prepares all of its entrees by baking, grilling or steaming.

“DFW is responding to what our passengers tell us they want, which is healthy eating options that taste great,” said Ken Buchanan, executive vice president for revenue management. “Our Concessions team has earned worldwide recognition for making DFW an outstanding place to eat and shop, and you can clearly see why when you taste the great new offerings we’ve brought in so far this year.”

DFW is also bringing a healthy approach to its vending machine options from Canteen Vending, which has placed its new Balanced Choices program in every machine throughout the Airport. The healthy options are clearly marked on each of the machines.
