DFW International Airport CFO Wins Business And Industry Hall Of Fame Award

DFW INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, Texas (October 9, 2002) – Vernon D. Evans, CPA and Executive Vice President/CFO of DFW International Airport, has been selected as one of the inductees into the 2002 Business and Industry Hall of Fame by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The Hall of Fame is formerly known as the Outstanding CPA in Business and Industry Award. 

Mr. Evans was chosen as a finalist along with four other candidates by a special task force of the Business and Industry Executive Committee. The final selections were made by a distinguished panel of judges comprised of an inductee from last year, Douglas Haag, Executive VPFinance, David Blansfield, Publisher, Business Finance Magazine and Bob Mahan, CFO, AOC, an Ajilon Company.

Mr. Evans became Deputy Executive Director of Administrative Services at DFW Airport in 1994. His title was changed to Executive Vice President – Finance and Chief Financial Officer, in August 2000, to better identify his current responsibilities which include overseeing all of the Airport’s financing activities including the complex $2.6 billion Capital Development Program. Mr. Evans was previously Director of Audit Services at the Airport. He joined the Airport staff in 1986 and has been in the accounting field since 1976.

Prior to coming to DFW, Mr. Evans was the Director of Internal Audit for the Fort Worth Independent School District and an audit manager with the public accounting firm of Ernst and Whinney. Mr. Evans earned both a Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration from the University of North Texas in 1972.

The award will be presented Thursday, October 17, 2002, as part of the AICPA 2002 National Industry Conference being held at the Hyatt Regency in New Orleans.
