DFW International Airport Launches “Santatracker” Web Link; Readies To Welcome Santa Claus

Stockings are hung by the Landing Pad with care, in hopes that Saint Nicholas soon will be there

(DFW International Airport, December 21, 2004) – DFW International Airport will roll out the red carpet for the arrival of Santa Claus and his sleigh on Christmas Eve, and give families an Internet window to view his trip through North Texas. DFW’s Airport Operations Department has Santa’s Landing Pad fully prepared for the big night at the Airport’s General Aviation area, with Santa’s favorite rocking chair, a pot-belly stove and plenty of milk and cookies. Though Claus and his team will only be here for “the blink of an eye,” the Airport will even provide some hay and oats to “refuel” Rudolph and the rest of the reindeer.

DFW's own tracking system for Santa's flight will be made available for viewing on the Internet, at http://www.dfwairport.com/santatracker.

DFW has also opened its special SantaTracker Hotline at 972 586 NOEL so North Texas children can pick up the telephone to follow Santa’s flight plan and keep tabs on the landing and refueling at the Airport on Christmas Eve. The progress reports will begin at 3 p.m. on December 23rd, with regular updates starting at noon on December 24 and continuing until 11:00 p.m.

More updates on Santa's annual visit are also available for families to view at http://www.dfwairport.com/santatracker, including a special "SleighTV" view of Santa's approach to DFW. The SantaTracker site also contains links to other Claus-related web sites and much more information about Santa’s North Pole hideaway.

This is the third year that DFW International Airport has provided children and families with a site to track Jolly Old Saint Nick’s whereabouts and his arrival into North Texas.

As the preparations for Santa’s arrival in North Texas continue, so do the preparations for a busy holiday travel weekend at the Airport. The Airport’s renowned Holiday Helpers program will be in full swing on Wednesday, December 22 as employees spend the day assisting passengers and spreading good cheer.

Happy Holidays to all, and to all a good night!
