DFW International Airport Reports Flight Cancellations Due to Hurricane Irene
DFW Customer Service teams ready to assist impacted passengers
DFW International Airport today reports that airlines have cancelled a total of 52 aircraft departures for Saturday, almost all due to the impact of Hurricane Irene along the east coast. A near equal number of arrivals was also cancelled.
Cancellations included most or all service to a number of airports along the eastern seaboard, including those in New York, Newark, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Baltimore, Norfolk, Richmond, Raleigh/Durham and Charlotte.
The FAA reports that the three major commercial airports in New York area, LaGuardia, JFK and Newark, all closed at midday, and it is not known when they will reopen.
DFW is strongly encouraging passengers to check their flight information if their travel plans include a flight this weekend or on Monday. Flight information for today’s flights can be accessed online at www.dfwairport.com.
DFW's Customer Service teams are standing by to assist any passengers whose travel plans are impacted by the storm. This can include the distribution of cots, pillows and blankets, along with needed toiletry items.
