DFW International Airport Welcomes Spirit Airlines

Ultra-low cost carrier begins twice-daily service to Fort Lauderdale and Las Vegas

(DFW AIRPORT, TX – May 5, 2011) – DFW International Airport today welcomed the inaugural Spirit Airlines flight from Fort Lauderdale, an Airbus A319 which was greeted with a DFW Department of Public Safety “shower of affection” water cannon salute as it pulled into Terminal E. Spirit Airlines brings twice-daily nonstop service from Dallas/Fort Worth to Fort Lauderdale along with twice-daily nonstop service to Las Vegas. 
“Spirit Airlines offers a tremendous benefit to the passengers of Dallas-Fort Worth,” said Jeff Fegan, CEO of DFW International Airport. “Spirit adds not only great service to great leisure locations at very competitive fares, but also a spirited sense of fun to our passengers.”
With the addition of Spirit Airlines, Dallas/Fort Worth area travelers will be able to connect to more than 44 cities in the Caribbean, Latin America and the U.S. via Spirit’s Fort Lauderdale gateway. 

Spirit becomes the sixth low-cost carrier at DFW, joining AirTran, Frontier, Sun Country, US Airways, and Virgin America.
